Business Idea: Medium for affiliate bloggers

A blog where anyone can post and earn a share of the affiliate bounty or ad revenu

The Background

Most internet entrepreneurs are familiar with the idea of affiliate blogging.

Briefly, the idea is that you create a blog based on a certain niche (let's say lawnmowers).

You write hundreds of articles about lawnmowers. Including ones where you include links to buy the lawnmower mentioned in the article.

You get a cut from every sale that you generate. You market by targeting keywords that you're likely to rank for on Google.

But there's a problem. Which is that you basically have no idea what websites are going to rank on Google. No one does.

And if a big site publishes an article that competes with you, you're screwed.

But what if you were the big site?

The Idea

The idea today is a platform for affiliate bloggers. Very similar to medium.

Basically, this company would run maybe 10 very large blogs. They would be well-established and high-ranking. They'd have very large backlink profiles.

Each site would be in a different niche (outdoors, home + garden, health, nutrition, etc.)

Then affiliate bloggers could sign up to be allowed to write for the site. They would be able to basically use it as their own blog, but with all of the benefits.

Their articles would be way more likely to rank for the keywords.

They would be able to put their own affiliate links / display ads on their articles and keep all of the income.

The company would charge the writer for using the platform (probably based on number of articles).

Obviously there would have to be some vetting, but this seems like a way more effective solution than have 500 completely different blogs all discussing adjacent topics.
